I'm installing a SI unit on my yak and it has a recessed area for the transducer to be mounted.

And I am wondering how much of the transducer has to be below the side edges in order for the SI to "see" left and right?

The pics are just ones I come across on the net so y'all know what kind of space the Helix transducer is going to be fitted in.

The Side Imaging pulses cover from the water's surface to past vertical under the transducer. Any horizontal coverage you block with the hull is less horizontal coverage you will have.

Your picture attachments do not display.
I have not seen any yak scupper recesses that will contain a Side Imaging transducer.
