I saw this video a couple days ago. Does anyone here in Texas troll for crappie? Just curious. Seems like it is at least somewhat popular in other states.

When I lived in Missouri many people pushed or pulled crankbaits and had a lot of success. People mostly were using bandits. The Bandit in the pink/reddish color seemed to always work better. The only problem I see since living in Texas is the amount of whites/wipers you'll run into. Not that catching those are bad but, if your targeting crappie you may have quite a few surprises. I just see you ending up with a mixed bag doing this in Texas, maybe I'm wrong though? All you can do is try! You can buy the balsa wood rapala cranks on ebay in sets of 8-10 for fairly cheap as well.

That technique should work good this winter fishing deep on lake LBJ.
I will try around mid January.
Thx for the vid! thumb

Sure wish the Ultrex would hurry and get here! smile

Ha ha ha. Yankee lake with no structure. Try that at PK, Fork or Ray Roberts and you'll need a loan to cover the lost cranks. Might work OK at Texoma.

I've caught some nice crappie in the past trolling for Striper at Texoma in the spring. Never tried it in the fall.

Wes and I troll crankbaits for crappie. We normally use our planer boards with Bandit 200, 300, and FlickrShads. It does work.

I have seen that Linder's Angling Edge episode, you can see a bunch of them on Youtube for free. There is more to it. I have tried it and caught crappie but scattered crappie are not what I am used to for sure. Kind of like drift fishing for trout.

They weren't very successful so shsss.
Last story told they gave up crappie fishing never to be heard from again.

I've considered trying this on my yak actually, but never committed. Every time I see a video like this it makes me want to give it a try...
