For you guys that punch grass, do you think a punch skirt gets more bites, or is it just something else to sell to fishermen?

I don't necessarily think it gets me more bites but it's definitely a situational tool. For instance, when trying to get through deep grass in cold water, I want a bulky profile. Also, there are just times when the fish are biting and putting that skirt on will get you bigger bites. Another advantage is when that water is dirty, put a skirt on so the fish can see it easier. It's mostly a preference thing but there are times when it does make a difference.

Unbelievable, you have 3 threads going at once over punch baits and now skirts. Good God man how hard can it be to figure out a lure for this. Frankly, I don't know where you can find matted grass like that anyway. Geez, find a more interesting subject to start 3 damn threads with.

I use slick jigs when I'm fishing brush where a conventional jig isn't practical. A skirt through matted grass makes no sense. Just something else to inhibit the entry and fall of the bait. Streamlined with a heavy weight is the name of the game when punching grass.
