So who all has been? We do a couples trip every year with some friends and looking at the cabins there at the park for mid Feb. It's always an easy way to do Valentines and since it's my year to pick looking to head that way! What little but I can find about the lake it seems most folks spider rig. That's kinda new to me but might as well go there and figure it out! I have several 8' Pro Anglers and 2 12's so I might be good for gear!

Any suggestions or any of you spider riggers got room in the boat some morning to see how its done? I tried it on Fork maybe 10 years ago deep and ran through a school of sand bass! It was a mess! I just handlined it all in after a bit and went to cutting hooks, fish, and weights off!!! roflmao

I can bring bait, beer, gas money whatever! cheers

No expert at all on spider rigging but we learned a few years ago when we made a trip to Grenada that we needed 12' + on rod length

I spider rigged a bunch when I lived in OK...rarely do now.

If you are fishing shallow, yes, you do need the longer rods. In February, you will be fishing deeper, so the 8' rods should work fine. Pro Anglers are great rods, but you'll have to watch the amount of weight used. I would use no heavier than 1/2 oz. on those rods, and keep your speed slow. Most rods designed for that technique are stiffer than the Pro Anglers and can support heavier weight.

Thanks y'all!! I know somebody with some 14' rods I can prolly bum for a weekend!! The lake isn't too deep. I wouldn't be suprised if some fish were 8-10' in the afternoons around the rocks.

I like the 10' Pro Angler rods at least to cover more area. 12-14' rods will cover even more and keep your lines away from t/m. 1/2 weight is what I Like because it forces you to slow down to keep your baits horizontal and for winter fishing that is important. Slower is better.
