Hello everyone. Fly fishing newbie here. I drive a lot for work, but have the freedom and flexibility to stop and fish when I'm near some promising looking water, so I'd like to get a decent travel kit to keep in my car. Does anyone have any experience with this combo? L.L. Bean Spin/Fly Fishing Combo This won't be my only fly fishing outfit, but I thought it might be a good kit to keep with me. Thoughts?

No personal experience with it, but for a quickie, it's probably alright. Throw some decent flyline on, maybe some Nanofil and a leader on the spinning reel, and I'd think it could be a nice rig for all those creek crossings and ponds you might stumble across. It's better than staring into the water and wishing you had a line to cast!

For what it's worth, I've carried a cheapo telescopic pole and spinning reel from BPS around for just that type of thing. Whole deal fit in my glove box and maybe cost me $25. I can't even tell you how maNY fish I've caught on it. Tiny sunnies all the way up to a few 5-6 pound bass...just on a whim because I had the rod in the truck.

Never and I mean never am I without a rod in the car I am in. A guy hit me in my truck and I've been getting work done to it for almost 2 months now and I've been in a loaner it has 6 rods in it. I think if you don't have a lot of spare room that is an interesting combo to have because depending on the situation you can fly fish but if you're in close quarters And need a long cast you have a spinning reel. So I would think go for it not the same brand but I saw one of those fly fishing spinning combos years ago it looked fairly functional and very packable.

Thanks Floon and Robert for the replies. Robert, the 6 rods in the loaner made me think we might be related!

Looks good for the purpose, I always have a rod with me too.
