Went down to my old stomping grounds and fished the old 190 roadbed bridges on Lake Livingston. Was out from 8:30am to 2:30pm and caught 60: 54 whites, 3 hybrids, a cat, a short hybrid and a nice yellow bass.

I started at the west end of the River Channel bridge (caught 8). Next to Hell's Half Acre bridge and caught only one. Then to the Honey Hole bridge (about a mile from the west end of the roadbed) and caught several there. Next to the Far Bridge - the last one on the west end - and caught several there. Went back east and caught one on the 1st bridge east of the river channel. Caught 3 on the 2nd bridge east of the river channel (we call it the Middle Bridge). Last stop was the 3rd bridge east of the river channel (we call it the 1st Bridge). Caught several there and was still catching them when I quit at 2:30. The whites ranged from 13 to 16 inches; the hybrids were 18.5, 19.5 and 21 inches. All the bridges had small 7 inch whites making a nuisance of themselves. Most of the fish I caught were on top of the bridge right at the end of it. Also caught a few pulling bait over the bridge rails.

The only lure I used was a #2 silver Mepps plain Aglia spinner with 1/8 oz weight mashed on up the line about 15 inches. I always use #2 on the bridges because the hooks are smaller making them less likely to get hung on the bridge rails and easier to shake free when they do get hung up.

Nice report Mr. Christian. The white bass population and average size has always been exceptional on Lake Livingston but has absolutely exploded with the big rains the last couple of years. As with many other Texas lakes it taken its toll on the striper fishing but the influx of hybrids from Cedar Creek and Richland Chambers almost makes up for it. I've never seen so many hybrids in Lake Livingston. There must be hundreds if not thousands because they are being caught all up and down the 90,000 acre reservoir. Michael has been catching up to 30 per day on his charters.
