I just found this site, lots of good info. Does anyone have any good LMB spots in my area that they know of? I have fished Mira Lagos several times with little luck. Bite has been slow and fish are small. Looking for places with decent numbers, I practice CPR only. Definitely only interested in public waters... Not willing to trespass or poach.

Cedar Hill State Park on Joe Pool has tons of good bank fishing areas. I used to live on that side of town and fished there quite a bit usually caught something.

Two thirds of the state park is closed due to no funding to fix the flooding of 2015

I went to CHSP last week... Blooper is correct, most of the park is closed. I tried down by the south boat ramp, nothing. Caught a decent LMB in the perch pond on a small topwater grasshopper. Went to Blanco and Lake Ridge pond today. Threw several different lures with no bite. another angler did tell me the bite is usually decent with some decent fish. Will try again next week. Thank you for your responses. There are a few other areas at CHSP that I think I can get to. Will update.

That's a nice bass, didn't think the Perch Pond had any.
If you are looking for a better bass bite you need to drop shot live minnows. I use a #4 hook and a 3/4 sinker. Nose hook the minnows and fish all the shore. I caught a 5 lber out there like that. I have caught plenty of 3 to 4 lbers using that method.
Just cast, drag across the bottom and give it some twitches, stop and twitch in place for a few. You can feel the bite if anything is there. I wouldn't waste my time if you don't get a nibble after the first 5 or so casts in the same spot.
Also seems the bass feed at certain times. The bite during summer was around 2ish then died down hard after 45 minutes or so. If you can get a cloudy day I'd go right around 3.
