Instead of sitting at home and watching TV, I headed over to Goforth Park to do a little fly fishing and see if I could land a bass or sunfish on some top water spiders. Had no luck, so I decided to switch to a small fly I tied a few weeks ago. Success!!! I didn't manage to catch any small bass, but I did manage to catch a few blue gill, and what looks like crappie hybrid. Strangest looking fish I've ever seen, so if any of you have any ideas of the ID, please share. I'm thinking it's a hybrid bream of some sorts.

Gorgeous! The number of possible varieties of sunfish hybrids is likely pretty high. Going through a species reference ought to help sort it out. Those eyes!

Nice job Doc! I need to quit being lazy and get out there with my fly setup. I havent the slightest idea on where to fish that pond though.

Grab the fly rod and hit the water. It's a big pond bordering on lake I would say with lots of room to cast. Top water and small minnow will do the trick. Hit the fly parallel to the shore line. You'll find the bream and sometimes find the bass if they are biting. Suns setting a lot earlier nowadays.
