My 2004 Mercury Optimax 225 won't go into forward or reverse. I removed the cowling and checked, it appears to be sliding into the correct position either forward or reverse. Any ideas on what the issue is, rpm's will go up but prop is not spinning?

Also, not sure where to take it to get back on the water fast. I am in Fort Worth.

Captaining for some High School boys this Saturday. Hope I don't have to disappoint these young men!

See if you can manually engage by disconnecting the cable. Hopefully you can.

Got it repaired. Spun the prop.
