Something about fall here in Central Texas that really gets these little exotic fish active. Ashley and I found a really great school(10) of them and I cant stress enough how aggressive they were. Our biggest went just over 8"s and when I say "our" I most definitely mean Ashley's. She caught all of hers on real worms and I caught all my fish on Berkley Trout worms in natural color. The Rios were holding off a ledge in about 12' to 16'. Incredible fighters! Ashley rounded out her day with a really good Bass on her tiny ultralite. I have little doubt now that Lake Travis has the potential of at least kicking out a trophy sized Rio...its amazing how well a drastic drought can increase all fishing when lake levels return....*****....side note I yak fished with my fly rod on Dunlap last Tuesday...I caught about 30 redbreast/bluegill all super small, I am at a loss for words on the strong current that is still whipping down that river. I hope I am wrong here but until that current slows down a bit I don't see the fish sizes getting up to the 12" mark like we have seen in the past. I still have yet to catch a Redear there since the big flood.

Real pretty rios, and awesome video. I fish Dunlap quite a bit, and was on the river last Tuesday as well. Have really fished hard for the red ear, and only catch an occasional small one. Nothing like the heyday of last year and year before. My theory is that the flood wiped out the snails, their main food source, but who knows ?
