Launched from Loafers bend 7:00am. Checked South and West of the islands first. Just a few blowups and managed to catch a large bluegill on a gay blade(I know but that's what they call em). Checked the bluffs and dam area and no top water to be found. It's now 8:00 and decided to head North, round the island and bam there they were on the North side. I guess the 15mph North wind stacked the shad up against the island and a large school of sandies and some striper were bustin top. Top water lures and even a popping cork with jigs were working good. When they went down the gay blade seemed to work best. This lasted for about 45min. Sure was fun and they were not finicky about biteing. From there we headed North to Mcgowen - didn't find anything. Moved West over to Cedron and worked the structure and humps in that area for next 3 hours. Found good schools of nice sized sandies. Could slab em up for 30-45 minutes then move and find more. Ended up back on the South side of the island and found a few more good schools of sandies, several double doubles for us to end the day. Rob with a nice striper Biggest bluegill I have caught in a long time Rob with a double

Thanks for the report I miss the Whitney hay days of easy multiple 10#s + multiple fish days. Hopefully they will return if the lake stays healthy

Great report Steve. I have never fished Whitney. Glad to hear the fish are biting there. I have heard the lake has had some kind of problem there that has effected the fishing.

I think Rob will agree that we haven't figured Whitney out yet but it is producing some nice fish. Be patient, look for them they are there. I think Whitney will continue to be good and probably get better into the fall.

Glad y'all had a good day. We had a very quick trip, had to go to work. Saw y'all up on the north side there but must have been at the end of the bite cause you moved pretty quick. We trolled our hell I pets and picked up a few sand bass but nothing like Tuesday . Even with the wind, it was good to be out on the lake, will try again next week, probably Tuesday. Gotta try to get a deer for the freezer for the next couple of days.
