I can get 8-10 miles to a gallon I'm thinking if I was out there in that thing I could drive right under the rigs. 24 gallons of gas and a 40 hp motor. 1 battery. 1 solar panel and a good bilge with a 2 inch pipe going to the outside. And a paddle

I'm waiting for the thread about taking an 8' bass buggy offshore.

I'm waiting for the thread about taking an 8' bass buggy offshore. I wouldn't try it without a 24v trolling motor. An spare battery wouldn't be a bad idea, either.

Here's the first question... Have you EVER been offshore to a rig? Have you ever rolled in 5' seas fighting a pop up storm between you and land? When that oil tanker rolls past throwing a ten foot wake, what's your plan?
I think getting to the end of the jetties might just change your whole outlook on offshore boating.

I knew a girl who paddled off High Island to the short rigs (6 miles out) and back in a kayak.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

I caught a 55# Wahoo 12 miles offshore of West Palm Beach Fla. in a 11' Del Quay Dory with a 25 Johnson.... I was 15 years old. Not saying it was a wise decision ... but I did it. Not the boat but that's a 11' Del Quay Dory

Nah not worth the risk or the reward for that matter. Find a buddy with a boat or get a guide.

You could do it long as your huge b@lls sit low in the boat for ballast.
