I am entertaining the idea of looking into buying a new (used) boat. Been fishing out of the same tracker , bought new, for about 16 years and finally think it is time to upgrade to something a bit bigger. Problem is, i really dont know much about what to look or look out for when shopping used boats.

Any and all advice is welcome from shopping for loans/financing tips to what specific things to check out on the boat itself to avoid buying a lemon. In my mind I have an idea of the size boat I want, but not really on the cost since I really dont know what sort of payments I would be into without knowing what interest rates are running.

thanks

As far as the picking of the boat, I will stay out of that. If you need a hand with financing questions or direction, let me know.
Let me know how we can help.
Thank you,
Ken

Casey, what size and style boat are you wanting? You have thrown out a lot of good questions there. Ken can tell you what % you need to put down, and payments for various purchase prices, based on your credit score. Now is a great time of the year to buy(better prices) and bad time to sell. Hah.

Definitely bass boat in the 18-19 foot range most likely.

Outside of financing, i am really most interested in what are the key things to check out on a used boat to ensure it is in top shape (for its age). Like anything, last thing I would want is to buy a boat and get it out and have it break down or something.

Boats break down, Casey, new and used, even if you have is checked out before you buy it. That, is part of boating.
