Stabil, any color, and a good water separator/filter. Seafoam or Berryman's B-12 every third tank. Never had a fuel problem. This year my boat sat from February to September due to my wife's cancer, and when I did get to the lake, fired right up and never missed a beat.

My dealer and his mechanic said not to use any of that stuff. I'm at 200 hours on my Etec, just changed the Racor for the second time and no sign of water or contaminants. I think adding something to prevent carbon accumulation would be money better spent, specially if you run a lot at low RPMs. JMHO I do use that every other tank or so. I really think a quality water separator filter is a better bang for the buck, but if you feel good using additives, then there really isn't a compelling argument not to do it.

Mine is a 2001 Merc 225. Atleast a couple thousand hours. No additives and not a single problem.

I had a 91 200hp Evinrude that I drained the tank twice in 1 month after using blue stabill every fill. I drained it the first time and cleaned the tank.
It had some water from condensation.
A mechanic drained it 3 weeks later and saved it in glass containers for me to see.
(True, he could have used some one else's gas, but I have no proof).
The ethanol had separated and settled to the bottom. It had some water bubbles on the bottom.
The top layer was blue colored from my 2 stroke oil and the portion of gas that wasn't ethanol.
It had sat for 2 days in the glass bottles, according to him.
We shook it around a lot, and when it mixed it turned a milky gray color.
I did a lot of internet searching and liked what I read about Startron.
It is suppose to stop phase separation of ethanol for longer periods of time.
I do have a racon water separator on my present boat, but use Startron to help with phase separation of the ethanol mix.
I swore by red Stabil until ethanol was forced on us. I tried the blue, but didn't like it, so went to Startron.
Everyone has different ideas about all sorts of things which makes life interesting.
Most have had good results with what they use in their motors and should continue to do what they have been doing.

I wish someone would show me phase separation. I have had gasoline sit for months and never had any problem. I have run a fuel filter/separator and when I change the filter, I always cut it open to inspect and have never found any water. It just doesn't happen.
