I have several different baits for different scenarios. So here it goes. Duo Realis Pencil 110 First and foremost, you can make quick work and get a limit by going for the ones on top. Usually the ones on top are the smaller ones but that's not always the case. I like this bait for my topwater approach. I get more bites on this walking baits because the rattle sound is unique. There's just something about it that works better. Strike King Premier Plus Spinnerbait I fished with a guide in Arkansas about 10 years ago that gave me one of the best tips I've ever gotten. He said "whenever the schooling action dies down just a tad, throw a bleeding/white colored spinnerbait." So whenever the schooling action isn't quite at it's peak but definitely not dead, I throw a bleeding/white spinnerbait. I suggest you throw it out, let it sink about 2-3 feet and reel it back with a medium retrieve. It works like a charm. Yamamoto Senko 5" Alright, this is something different and it's one of my secrets. A lot of guys like to throw a fluke out there and let sink just a tad. Those fish have seen a lot of flukes, so I switched to a senko and have continually caught quality fish. I throw it weightless on a 3/0 hook, let sink down about 2-10+ feet (depending on how deep the bigger fish are), and then I begin to twitch it like a fluke. One key I need to tell you is to throw something completely different than the color of shad. Those fish are so keyed in the real bait that throwing something like a chartreuse color will work a lot better. Strike King Sexy Spoon And finally, for the bigger fish below the school, I throw a flutter spoon. I throw it out and let it sink below all of the action, then I begin to rip it upwards at a fairly fast pace, then I let it fall back down again. However, most of the time they'll hit it on the initial fall. I like this particular spoon for schooling action only. The reason for that is, the vibration from this spoon is unlike any other, it's very strong. I know that when that vibration stops on an upward swing that my bait is either fouled or there's a fish on it. It really helps you detect bites. These are my baits and tips for schooling fish. I hope this helps you out and remember, think outside the box for schooling fish. Tight lines!

Depends on the size of bait fish. try and find out how big they are and use swimbait and crankbaits the same size.

Different lures seem to work at different times for me. The number one go to for me is a casting spoon. That is almost a guaranteed bite. I just don't find them schooling very often.

SmackTackle makes a bait called a Flitterbait that is a cross between a rattletrap and a blade bait- it will cast a mile and absolutely kills the schooling bass!
Waterloo Rods/Smacktackle baits Coleto Bassmasters South region B.A.S.S. Nation
