Hi group,

I am headed to Amistad next weekend to fish 10/21-10/23. I have never been and not a tournament guy. I am just looking to get away and catch some fish. Does anyone have some advice?

Also - if someone is going to be fishing those days and knows the lake, I'd pay to follow and get some advice. Or does anyone know any guides that would allow this for a fee?

Cheers,
Brandon

What part of the lake do you want to target? I suggest on your fist trip you stay on the end closest to Del Rio. If you are staying in a trailer out at Box Canyon or up the Devel's at Rough Canyon let me know.

Just back from Amistad 10-6 to 10-11, also stayed with Amistad rentals in the rough canyon area... striper fishing....
we fished the devils arm 1 full day.... not productive at all.
found all of our fish in evans creek in 42 fow , fish hanging at 30-35 ft.
caught stripers, sand bass, black bass, small mouth.....almost limited 5 person limit...

pm if need more info...

I fished a tournament there last Saturday. My partner and I caught over 50 in 6 hrs. Top water over deep(10-12 ft) flats early, if they quit that, senkos near grass. San Pedro area.

Wishin I was fishin! NOW, right now!

If fishing heavy grass I use 50-65pd Power Pro braid, if not 15-20 big game or fluoro will work..
