I took a week of vacation to do some fishing. It was perfect timing, coinciding with the start of the fall bite.

I started by heading down to Universal City and fishing with my good friend, Chuck Dewey, aka Banker Always. This is always a great experience, but the day ended up being something very special!!! Chuck and I hit one of his favorite creeks. The primary target was big Rios, but those half pound redbreast sunfish distracted me something fierce. I did manage to catch some Rios and learned a few things about them. In total, we caught well over 100 fish. In addition to the 10s of redbreast and Rios, we caught several LMB, Bluegill, Greenies and Longear.

I then took a trip to Blanco State Park and fished between the overflows. Most of the fish were small and the water was shallow in the majority of that stretch. I caught bass, bluegill, greenies and rios.

I spent the rest of the week fishing with my good friend and regular fishing buddy, William "Ben" Tedrick. We fished Lake Sommeville, it's creeks and the spillway. The fishing was incredible. We caught bass, sunfish, catfish and crappie by the truck loads. Bass were shallow, the creeks were full of shad and the flow at the dam is down to 91 cfs. The conditions were perfect.

PS: I also took a quick trip up to visit Mr. Robert Hunter. As much as I hate it, I recon he's a good friend too grin He took me to his trophy ponds and we caught a couple of big 14 inch crappie.

I look forward to more great days fishing Central Texas with my buddies.

Thanks Gentlemen, the bluegill will be submitted for a Yegua Creek record as well. That's my first 8 inch fish that weighed a half pound. Now that's a football, LOL!!
