Got a Rite Hite transom savor from Bass Pro for my 225 Optimax hanging on a Majek 22 Extreme
1- With the saver on, is it idea to keep the jack plate all the way down or all the way up? If all the way down, how can you tell if you have a safe clearance? I'm guessing as long as the skeg is above the trailer?
2- Is it okay to leave the saver on during storage or is it better to take it off and rest the motor on the pad?
Thanks

i run my JP almost all the way up.that way i can leave the motor tilted down more and still have ground clearance. i feel like there's less leverage on the transom from the motor that way.

Most jack plate manufacturers recommend that you tow with them all the way down. I run mine all the way down and have [plenty of clearance

Make it as high as you can. I might not be reading you right. DO you have a hydraulic jack plate. If so you need to run it all the way down. I dont know about a manual.

I leave mine up a little bit sometimes for extra clearance. Not sure about Merc's but Yamaha says to store it in the running position (injection oil with start dripping it you leave my 2001 HPDI up long enough)

Bruce, Yes it is a hydraulic Bobs Flats Jac with a 10" setback. With the plate all the way down it looks like it has a good clearance but I just have that phobia of going up a steep incline or something and having that motor drag.. I feel a lot more comfortable with towing with the plate all the way up, but I see how that puts stress on the jack plate and transom. All the way down it is

yup... all the way down with hydraulic plates. or atleast more than 1/2 way down. keep as much of the motor plate inside the channels as possible to relieve stress on the plate.

I run with my hyd plate about 2 inches above the bottom. I believe the higher you run with it the more movement you will get as the plate flexes.
