I've been dying to catch some small mouth, I know they are out at Lewisville but wanted to see if anyone would share targeting techniques at Ray Bob? I know this is typically forbidden to share this type of info so I'm only asking for a general direction here. I sure appreciate it.

I dont have much knowledge on Ray bob, but i know Texoma has a good small mouth population and you can generally catch them on main lake banks covered in chunk rocks throwing shakey heads and drop shot

I have fished there 20 plus years and have only caught a few most of those were probably hybrid/mean mouth. Fish rocky banks with usual bass stuff(square bill, spinner bait, jig) and you may luck in to one. Lots of rocks close to the dam and several good rocky areas between IDB and Buck Creek in the East arm of the lake. If you want to target small mouth I would recommend you drive a little further North and hit Texoma.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

I have caught a few a Ray Rob but not many. For me in the few I have caught have been north of Wolf on main lake points on rocks. Got them on crank baits. Rocks Rocks and more Rocks. Good luck. If I wanted to target smalls I would just go another hour north and fish Texoma.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a shot using those recommendations. I'm not hell bent on catching them... Just want to see what the hype is all about. I may venture up to Texoma in the next six months or so.

Ya'll have a good one!

I know this is a little off topic. But I just returned from 40 mile paddle on the Buffalo in north Arkansas. We had tremendous success. It was a blast.

The last 6-7 times I have been to Texoma I have caught or my partner caught a smallmouth. Most non keepers but did have a 3 and 2 1/2. I got hung in the rocks the other day and when I went to shake it loose a Big smallmouth was up there and slowly swam away. I talked to another fisherman that caught a 4 1/2 that day.

Lipjerk, I might have meant to say Grapevine, as Bassinbee pointed out.

Thanks again guys, sounds like Grapevine or Texoma is the better chance.
