My son had the day off today from school so I took a PTO day and took him to Ray Roberts to go fishing. We've been fishing the local community pond but we both wanted out on the boat. We found fish from 20-30 feet and caught them 18-25 feet down. I am still working on keeping the boat over the piles with the trolling motor. So I got a good bit of practice today. I used Bonehead 3" slim sticks and Thermocline Tadpoles. Today the brush glider wasn't a big hit unfortunately. We fished from 10am til 2pm. Had a blast and some great father-son time! Can't wait for my son to get older so we can both focus on catching! My son having fun while moving between BPs. Managed 5 keepers! BFOD was 13" and came off a BP in 26FOW right off the bottom! Caught on the new Thermocline Copper Mine Tadpole. Thanks to Todd and Belinda and Josh and Brandi Spain for making such great baits. I have no doubt I would have done better if I was better at boat control!

Nice pics, good post. The Copper Mine color on every post I have seen where it was mentioned, is catching crappie. I am going out in the morning and that is the color bait I will be using too on Lake Graham. "Can't wait for my son to get older so we can both focus on catching!" They grow up to fast, so enjoy every moment no matter what the age.

Don't rush your son to get older, that time will come. Then you will look back and say, "I wish he was still small". Enjoy all the fun you're having now and each day that pass. As far as practice with the trolling motor, get the Xi5 and lock into position for hours of great fishing.
It's time to "Set The Hook"!!!!!!

Nice catch. Are you sure you were on Ray Roberts? I have never seen houses like that around that lake?

Nice catch. Are you sure you were on Ray Roberts? I have never seen houses like that around that lake? Good catch Chris! The photo was actually from Lewisville the night before. He wanted to go for a ride so we went out near dusk for a short cruise! Here's the only one I got of us yesterday. Don't rush your son to get older, that time will come. Then you will look back and say, "I wish he was still small". Enjoy all the fun you're having now and each day that pass. As far as practice with the trolling motor, get the Xi5 and lock into position for hours of great fishing. I would love to get it Rook! Gotta save up the $$$ as my better half says I spent too much on the boat already! It's definitely in the target for next big purchase! WTG!!!! Nice SLABS! After having breakfast with your son, I just gotta ask, "Was he bouncing all over the boat" You know it Todd! He's every bit as energetic as when you saw him. He was okay on the boat though. He likes playing with my bead counter and he helps reel in fish and put them in the bucket! Thanks Tom! It's a blast right now, but I know he's gonna love catching fish with me eventually. My wife always asks "what's your favorite age" (with regards to our son) and I always say "this one" because I love every minute! Starting my son early like my dad did for me! That Copper Mine color is great. I used it on another trip before but the fish weren't cooperating. Yesterday when I found fish I wanted to try it again and it certainly delivered! Lost a LMB on it too!
