This may be a really dumb question, but I'm new to boat ownership and I just can't figure out the best way to get gas in my boat. The boat is currently at Holiday Marina on Tawakoni. According to them, there is no place on the lake that I can gas up on the water? Is that right? If so, how would someone get 30 gallons of gas in a boat that's on the water? It seems ridiculous to have to buy six five gallon gas cans, fill them up individually, and pour them into the gas tank. It seems even more ridiculous to have to put the boat on a trailer and drag it to a gas station every time. It's at the marina now, but we're remodeling a house and it will soon be at the house, so just "throwing" it on a trailer will be even more of a pain in the [censored]. Is there a trick to this that I'm not aware of? Thanks in advance.

Well, that was quick. That is pretty much in line with everything else I've experienced at Holiday.
Thanks, Cast.

Rabbit Cove Marina just introduced 24 hour gas pump. non-ethanol gas, pricey, but beats dragging 30 gallons of gas in 5 gallon containers.

Or you could invest in something like this. http://m.overtons.com/modperl/product/de...er&i=950868After a few years of paying on the water prices for fuel you could buy a couple of these with the extra money.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

I don't have a lift, so I trailer mine every three or four weeks to wash off the algae and check lower unit fluid. While its out I fill it up. After its in the water, I put in twenty gallons at a time as needed. I have a 77 gallon tank.

Do you really need 30 gallons? I usually use about 4-5 gallons per trip on my boat so if you filled it initially, one of the 14 gallon dispensers each time you go out would probably suffice.

I second the 429 marina. They are great people. The owner is practically a sister to my wife.

Years on Lake Michigan a buddy of mine had his boat (it was a 24 foot Pursuit dive boat) moored at a marina and he had two of these we would fill up to gas up his boat. MUCH cheaper than the on-water gas.

FYI... I found out the hard way that 429 does not have gas even though their website claims that they have boat fuel at their "fueling dock" and they have a large green sign advertising "boat fuel" facing the lake. The woman behind the counter acted as though they hadn't had it for some time and would not have it anytime soon. She offered no alternative and I was left in quite the predicament. An hour trolling motor ride later, lesson learned. Just wanted to let everyone know not to count on 429 for your boat fuel needs.

Check out a product called the "Safety Siphon". Should be available at most hardware or marine stores or online if you can't find it. I've used one for years, cheap, works great on or off the water.

20 gallon Jerry tank and a dolly. I use the dolly for other things around the house from time to time so buying a gas tank for around 20 dollars and siphoning gas would make more sense to me.
