Any advice to post storm bass fishing? I only get on the water now and then and it is not always ideal situations. I would appreciate any help I can get on bad weather days.

Back when I bass fished a lot it was before side scan and all this crazy technology. I fished patterns and only relied on the Humminbird for depth and temp. I looked at creek channels like roads and highways. I would familiarize myself with the lake with a map and look for the main creek channels. In the fall The fish will feed aggressively getting ready for their metabolism to slow for winter. They are less finicky in the fall. The fish will follow the creeks out of the deeper waters and find their food in the shallower waters. Typically they follow the primary baitfish around. In the fall I could usually go to any lake and find baitfish and bass 5-10' of water around shallow water structure near a main creek channel. Look for areas a creek channel may bend close to a point, ledge, docks, standing timber etc. once you find them you can usually get into them good if you don't spook them. Long story short look for shallow structure near creeks. Good luck!

Now days you can just use your graph if you have a map card. If you don't download the navionics app on your phone or iPad. I think is $9.99 and worth every penny.

If they are not feeding actively look in or around the channel. I won a big tourney one year in October on Bob Sandlin. We spent half the day looking shallow with no luck. I was idling through some stumps trying to follow the channel back out into the main lake. I was in a large cove right out in the middle of the channel and saw several fish grouped together on the bottom. I tied on a Carolina Rigged craw worm and we caught a 28lb stringer right there in 18-22 ft of water. The bite was slow but we pulled a great stringer out of that channel.

We all have been caught in an upper level disturbance while fishing. Most fishermen will either stay home or get off the water because it is going to be a miserable day and the bite seems to just shut down. Actually the exact opposite is happening. The huge bass are grouping together and being just absolutely aggressive. The Halloween Spinner Bait is one that I spent years tweaking so it will catch the big bass that are so active during inclement weather.

This bait has won many tournaments over the years in bad weather situations when they would not bite any other bait. The stranger the conditions the bigger the bass it catches. The largest stringer was inKy.with 10 bass weighing 62 lbs.

Techniques:
- Fish this bait during upper level disturbances like;
Lighting -Thunder -Fog and Thunder Blue Northerner - Sleet and Snow
- Find the heaviest cover in the lake near the back of the larger creeks. The inside bend of the creeks are the best. These huge bass will be grouped up around that cover.
-Run the bait just under the surface bumping it off ever log, tree
and brush in the area.
-Water depth of 5 ft. or less has produced the best results.
- Spend no more than 10 minutes fan fishing the area then move
forward. When you find the fish tie up and work every piece of
cover in the area.

Or if not the app, can also view the website from your PC at no cost, but it does not have the ability to mark spots etc like the app does.
