Hi, I've never fished with a jig before. I have 2 questions...is the hook up to strike ratio ok? And is the weedless nature of the hook effective?
Thanks!

The hookup ratio is great if you learn to be patient and reel down the slack before setting the hook to avoid blowing their mouth open. The weedless nature doesn't make the hookup any less effective, just set the hook hard and you'll be fine.

The hook up ratio is one of the main reasons I use a jig so much, that and jigs just flat catch fish.

Hook up ratio is great. I throw a jig about 90% of the time.

The hookup ratio is pretty good on a jig. The weedguard on a jig isn't really in the way. And yes, the weedguard definitely helps prevent snags.

Like all techniques jig fishing takes some learning but once you get experienced with it is one of the most universal techniques. You can catch fish shallow, deep, or suspended. And you can fish it fast ,slow or anywhere in between. Learn it you'll be glad you did.

One thing that a lot of people get caught up on is the many different types of jigs and trying to figure out which one to use. You can do many different techniques with one such as a swim jig, just stick with one and try different techniques with it.
