May want to try in boats/motors section. But it is mostly dependent upon what boat you have and how heavy the waves are where you fish.

I would think if you fish a lot of wind you need a 52", if you do not like to fish in the wind the 45 will do. I would never own a boat in Texas without a 52"

if your boat can handle a 52 that's definitely the ONLY way to go. because of the way my basscat pumas lids are made if the tm is in the stowed position i cant open the port rodlocker all the way. but its worth it because i fish in the wind often.

I once asked an Elite competitor why he had a 45" t/m, his reply was I only fish shallow. He wanted the head of the t/m as low as possible. I believe it should depend on your specific needs, personally I like the 52" but I'm a deep water guy. I have to admit in the spring and fall pulling the motor up has caused issues with some low skipping/side arm cast. But, the positives out weigh the negatives for me.

I like a 45". I fish shallow most of them he year. I had a 52 on my ranger. I was fishing deeper around the time I had it. I still get offshore just not very often.

52" on my 521. You can always make it shorter if necessary but you can never make it longer than it is.(The trolling motor!)

the 45 will cost you more. If you get the 45 you will decide to sell it in 6 months and buy the 52. go with the 52

52" more length, it is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
