Very sad situation to say the least, I personally know some well known locals on Fork that have no business going out on the water like they do. Hope they read this.

We are free to make our own decisions and we should be held accountable for them. It's very sad someone died, but hopefully the guy who is responsible or partially responsible for his death will never make that choice again.

I was hit by a drunk driver almost 12 years ago and I have aches and pains from that wreck everyday, sorry I don't have much sympathy for those that make poor decisions that injure or kill others.

this is sad period. I do think their should be a indictment to hold people accountable, so others will at least know what will happen if someone decides to do the same. I think everyone wants everyone else to feel sorry for them for a bad deal and not hold them responsible for their actions. This is what people have gotten tired of. We should think about what is going to happen before we drink and drive not after, to many people hurt after. We have all made bad decisions but we should all be held accountable to protect people down the road. just my .02

Our society really glamorizes alcohol and it really upsets and disgusts me. Grown adults love to post anything alcohol related on their Facebook page as though they are trying to impress their friends. I'm not impressed and just think it's pathetic. They then wonder why their kids grow up thinking it's okay to drink and drive or drink underage. I don't have an issue with anyone having a drink but personaly I don't drink anything alcoholic and drive. I want to set an example for my kids because they watch everything that we parents do. Sad for those families involved, there's just no excuse.

very sad and tragic . the only thing that changes peoples actions are consequences. My son's best friend was killed in a car accident several years ago ( alcohol related ) . They grew up playing baseball together , shared tons of good times bass fishing together and in a blink of an eye , gone . It's the people left behind that have to deal with all the memories and sadness .
Boats , cars, trucks and alcohol ==== never a good mixture .

If I'm correct, thats a second degree felony 2-20, aggravated and will have to serve 1/2 before parole eligible.

Driving a boat while drunk is pretty darn stupid!! I have no sympathy for drunk drivers!

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the man who needlessly lost his life and also to the family of the man who will soon be incarcerated. No sympathy for the man who carelessly caused the life of a friend but hopefully will change his life and cause others to rethink the consequences of operating anything under the influence.

I'm guessing at some point, most of the people on here, this could have been you and your buddy. Not saying it's ok what happened, just saying they had no intention that it would end up this way.

Bad deal all the way around. Personally, I don't drink, just don't feel the need but don't look down on people that like to have a few beers or whatever. This guy earned his punishment but I would be willing to bet just having to wake up every day knowing you killed a good friend is probably enough. I think people should think about that next time they feel the need to pop the top. Look at your family or your buddy next to you and just think for a minute, do you want to live with yourself if something did happen? Even if you only had one, if something did happen you would always wonder if that had something to do with it or if maybe you didn't have it things might have changed. No doubt that beer can wait until your off the water and off the road.
