 Cleats on an aluminum boat

I have an old 14' v hull boat. It has thin rails and I don't know how would attach some cleats? It doesn't have any at all. Any suggestion is helpful.

Can you post a pic of the sides and rails of the boat. That may give us some ideas.

Use a backer plate and through bolt it.

Rivnuts if you have enough void beneath the mounting surface.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

Rivnuts if you have enough void beneath the mounting surface. Those would not work. They have a lip that would be on top of the mounting surface and would keep the base of the cleat from contacting the mounting surface. I ended up through bolting them on my Seaark and did the same with Driftmaster bases.
