I'm looking to go on a trip with some buds in late fall/early winter and I was wondering on where y'all would suggest going. I was thinking about going to the LMF or the Guad, but we also want to go hit the salt. I'm not really sure where we would go if we went to go to the coast, but I was hoping y'all would have some ideas. I was thinking Matagorda, but I feel like the coast is too far away from DFW for a weekend trip. Any input is welcome.
Thanks, Brendan

The coast is closer than the Guad.....
Winter is prime time in Broken Bow and the LMF. After the logs come out, more water opens up and fishing is better. Logs come out in late November

LMF is sweet in December, scenery is nice, all the fish bite better with cooler weather (including the smallmouth and walleye), and not too many people.

Jeff, Matagorda is almost 6hrs away from where I am, while the Guad is only 4 and 1/2 hours away. I'm seriously considering Broken Bow, but the other two guys really want to go hit the salt. Is there anything even moving that time of year on the coast, or is the fishing slow?
I'm gonna try and convince them to go to the LMF because neither of them have caught trout before.
