My daughter told me because her school met their fund raising goal her principal had to pay off on a bet and eat a live nightcrawler on this morning's video announcements. My first reaction was that was a terrible waste of bait. Upon further research it appears eating works can be hazardous to your health. Out if sure curiosity I wanted to take a poll and see if any of the fine fisherman on this forum have ever ate bait and lived to tell about it.

We used to ride four wheelers in the Brazos years ago and would take enough food and beer to last a weekend. We were getting ready to leave one morning and threw the left over bacon in the river and watched the turtles eat it. We went in the river one more time to cool off before we left, and you could catch a dozen or so minnows in your shirt. A friend bet me a case of beer if I ate one of the minnows. I did, collected the bounty, and never got sick. The same friend bet another guy with us a case of beer if he would eat a piece of that raw bacon floating in the river. He ate it, and said his stomach was messed up for over a week.

In preparation for the WW3 that my buddies and I were sure was coming in the early 80's we each ate a night crawler as proof that we could survive in the event of nuclear war.

We're all still here some 30 years later.

I put stinkbait on a buddies sandwich before. Want do that again. Kept having to find him a spot on the river bank to get out for some reason. That Monday, the Doctor said he never seen anyone get poison oak in that spot. We keep toilet paper on the boat now. Oh, he got me back in duck season. Put a shad in my cup cake. That's a sweet fishy taste.

One live sardine here. Dipped in mustard of course. Drink as a skunk of course. We all ate one. We were all drunk too.

We used to drop minnows in our beer bottles to watch them swim around. That last sip was always crunchy.

Shad head, live minnow, night crawler and cricket. I'm still alive. Doctors said the twitch won't go away, otherwise I am fine.
