Can't think of any better place to fish during the first couple days of fall than the Nueces Canyon. Fished a couple of days last week on the Nueces River in both Uvalde and Real Counties. The bite was on FIRE and the fish were very active. Caught a nice variety of fish that had nice size and were fat! Longear,LM Bass,Guadalupe Bass,Bluegill,Redear,Redbreast,Rios, and even a nice Warmouth. River is in GREAT shape and according to current reports the Nueces got a "TON" of rain these past few days. Fish were all caught on worms using a bottom technique. Fish were holding close to grass beds and at the ends of currents. Caught well over 50 nice fish. A few were kept for a person that lives on the Nueces River who loves fish. Great people, super scenery, nice fish, and good places to eat. It just don't get any better! fish

I think I'm going to take a day off when the white ruin starts next year and finally make it to the nueces. Fishing the run had been on my bucket list for a while now...

Thanks Curtis for the reply! Spring is a good time to fish the Canyon. Fish are getting active. I would say Mid Spring to late spring would be the best time. Some fish will be in their spawn mode! thumb
