Looking at switching over to minn Kota fortrex. I currently have a 109 motor guide. It's been good considering the abuse I have out it through but I have had to replace the steering cable 2 times, have the armeture rebuils (prolly spelt wrong sorry), and have the shaft straightened 2 times. Now it is making a nasty noise in the unit. Sprayed some cleaner in there and it got better but figured i would make the switch soon before I have to rebuild the entire unit lol.

My question is for the foot pedal. How wide is the foot pedal for the minn Kota fortrex? They seem much wider than the motor guide. I don't really want to cut the deck again to put a bigger try in for the new motor but I will if I have to. Just figured I would ask those that have one if they can measure and let me know. Thanks ahead of time!

They are much wider. I had a Nitro that would only fit motorguide. I cut down each side of the minnkota mount so it would fit. It worked. The only issue that could happen would be if your recess is deep enough when you put the minnkota in the pedal is so big it might hit on the deck before you get a full turn out of it.

What kind of tray do you have? I have two different minn Kota units and both pedals fit my TrollPerfect recessed tray without issues. The only thing close to a fitment issue is the momentary/off/constant switch is tough to reach because it's mounted low and on the side of the pedal.

I believe it is the R&R design tray that is sold on eBay. I bought the tray about 4 years ago. It says it fits both min Kota and motor guide on eBay right now. Just wasn't for sure. Guess I need to go to BPS and measure before I buy one.

Just did the exact same switch on my Skeeter 21I. Motorguide is 6 1/2 in wide and the Minnkota is 8 1/4. I am very happy with my Minnkota. Took me a little while to get used to the foot pedal but now that I have, I love it.
