Went fishing on the lower Guadalupe yesterday. Using shrimp for catfish, was feeding all the small ones. Kept getting a little bump on one pole and after a while I figured he had striped the shrimp so started reeling in. Bam, he wasnt small any more and put up a good run and fight. Finally got him up to the surface and had a nice 6-7 foot alligator gar. About 5 feet from the kayak he threw a little 6" cat at me and swam off. Thought I had a two fer one hook till he was almost close enough to touch.

My personal best is still swimming out there just getting bigger. One of these days I will quit feeding it.

Had that happen to me somewhat. I was pulling up a jug line and had about a 30 plus yellow cat hanging on a two pound Channel Cat! Needless to say the Yellow got away! nuts

Had that happen to me a few years ago while fishing for Channel Cats. Had a pole tip just barley moving and after watching it for a couple of minutes I decided to set the hook. When I set the hook it felt like a small Catfish. hmmm After the second or third crank of the reel, the rod bent down almost to the water and drag started to peal. After a 10 minute fight a big Yellow Cat finally let go about a one or two pound Channel. nuts The Yellow swam off. breakdance As for the Channel Cat it was another story! violin
