Me and a buddy are heading to Caddo Lake this Saturday for the first time. Any tips on where to put in, what part of the lake we should start on etc. Fishing for Bass so any tips or useful advice will be appreciated.
Thanks

I haven't been out there since last October... we caught them on frogs, flukes, and cranks up in the river

Caught some around the islands on the main lake too

I always prefer the upper lake around Uncertain Texas and up into Big Cypress Bayou. I have a cabin rented for weekend after next(Oct 7-9)at Shady Glade (http://www.shadygladeresort.com/. Have not been since last spring so can't give an up to date report but I'm betting these cooler nights get the bass active. Since you have never been you will love the scenery but: "everywhere looks fishy"! Look for river channel and boat lane swings, edge of deeper water(deep is a relative term on this lake) and isolated cypress trees. Pads, trees and hydrilla are unlimited up on this end so need to find something that separates your spot from everything else. Hoping someone will chine in with a new report. Enjoy!

Appreciate the info, keep it coming! Pretty excited to get on this lake. Want to make sure we don't waste time searching instead of fishing. 👍🏼

Shady Glade is a good spot to put in. They have pretty good burgers as well. Get a map and watch the lane markers. It's real easy to get turned around on Caddo. If you are not in a boat lane, idle. The most unique/coolest lake in Texas. A run up the river to the State park is pretty cool. I got my PB at Caddo a 10.68 several years ago.

Unfortunately I have not been there in over a year so I cannot give you a current report.

My favorite lake, but haven't been in a couple years. In falls past, I have had good luck first thing in the morning (surrounded by the sounds of shotgun blasts from the duck hunters all around) fishing the edges of the boat lanes in the pads, in the water connecting the main bayou and the main lake. into the bayou a couple hundred yards.

Buy a lake map. Easy to get lost over on the Texas side if you aren't familiar with it. I've been turned round with a map and GPS on my boat.

Actually I bought a map first time out there but my Navionics chip in my Humminbird was all I need to navigate the lake.

The best advice I got was to run the motor in reverse some to flush the grass before getting on plane!

There is tons of salvania right now on the Texas side. You need to go up to Karnack River and fish. Lots small fish b caught up there. With water level low on caddo and so much salvania the fishing is tough. They r starting to school off of C boat run in big green. Take a trick worm and flukes. Also don't run if it ain't marked. DO NOT RUN K boat run either right now

All the lake level charts actually show Caddo slightly past full.

Was there a couple weekends ago. The lake bite was horrible! We caught a lot of fish in the cuts off the river above 43 bridge. My buddy caught a Kentucky that went over 4 on a square bill. Lots of numbers with a good fish mixed in every now and then.

The texas side of the lake is probably 95% covered in salvania. I wonder what it would look like had we not got those two floods in the spring? If we don't have a cold winter, it's going to be bad for business next summer.😡
