If you plan to build a brush pile or twenty don't waste your time building a small one. Small condo's or piles built from small tree trimings just don't last or hold many fish.

Do this on private property where you have permission.

This tree fell over due to erosion. Pick a portion that had as many large branches as you can tow with your boat. Add sufficient weight on the shore then tow to where you want it.

This pile was placed 20' deep and ten days later produced 57 fish in one hours fishing.

8x8x16 concrete blocks. Usually use two, this one used three. two near base and one halfway up.

A nice battery operated saber saw (with NEW long wood blades) - with several batteries makes the job easier, and keeps the noise down. No need to draw a crowd of spectators that may want to see where you plant this new honey-hole! thumb

clap

That sure simplified things, and kept the boat much cleaner. My 20 Volt sawzall with a long pruning blade works wonders for this.

Actually the rest of the tree is still laying where it fell if you look at the other picture. Whole tree is too big to pull in one piece.

I left the shiny spot so you could find it.

roflmao You taught me to look for that shiny spot. Looks like a sign saying fish here.

Do you put one concrete block in the middle because you want the tree to lay horizontal?

I put one at the base and the other about halfway up the tree. I usuall tie the upper block to one of the outside limbs so the tree will lay at an angle.

I also found it along with the other 17 piles. The old man has been busy.
