The small block SHO has already established a reliable reputation. The extra horsepower and the better gear ratio are big pluses.
No more two stroke oil.
Newer technology.

I would go Yamaha over the E tec

I've never owned an E-tec but I do have a SHO 150. If fuel consumption is a consideration then I don't know you can top a SHO engine.

If you want to go fast get a black motor. But if you want to get back get a Yamaha.
