Thinking of heading Saturday for the first time. Any areas to avoid? I'm coming in from the East off 360, so figured I would put in at Isle du Bois park unless advice dictates otherwise.

Any other advice of course welcome.

All past Wolfe island is trees, no boat lanes so idle even if it looks clear, don't follow people running in there either from people's past experience trying to follow people and getting a few feet of will put a hole in the bottom of your boat.

Does Isle du Bois open before 8am? Jordan puts you close to a lot of good water. Coming out of Jordan you have Sand on the left and lots of good water in the creeks to the right

Had some success last Sat with small bass fishing shallow with a swim jig. Only big bite I got was from an Op. Thought I had a giant on the 1st few seconds!

the catfish are eating swimbaits, jigs, and crankbaits right now! no bigger bass for me lately but alot of small ones that always seam to be hungry.

Same here Brad. We tried fishing shallow in the AM (square bills, t-rigs, finesse worms) working back off the shore slowly onto flats (Carolina rigs, T-Rigs) and some deeper structure, without any sizable fish last Saturday.

Fishing is great. The wind doesn't look like it will be an issue on Saturday. I went last Saturday and caught a couple like the pic below and lots of schoolers. Late morning sandbass action was really good if the other bass aren't cooperating. I went on Tuesday and the cool weather didn't do anything to slow down the bite.

Tom are you still fishing the same area as you had been recently? I fished the West side with James Biggs last week and the wind was rolling us big time most all day.

I'm heading out Saturday morning with my 16yr old and his friend as well. I just bought a boat and I'm learning the lake. I appreciate the info. I was thinking about putting in at Jordan and running straight East to the West side, staying South of Wolf Island, and then turning up North to get into those two larger creek arms on the West side. Can I run that safely, or can I at least run part of that safely?

yes just stay on the south side of the island, there is a road bed just south of the mouth of Lick creek that runs to the East to watch out for. Anything north of the telephone poles on the west end of wolf is trees.
