Im wanting to take wife and kids catfishing, I'm not asking for secret holes, just a few tips on how to locate them, I heard using dog food to chum area before. All help would be appreciated

First question, from bank or from a boat? When on a boat I prefer to drift shad on a santee rig. 1oz weight works good for me. Now as far as where to target them... What lake? Wind direction, water temp, and depth, are all important factors.

The bulkheads on Conroe seem to hold fish pretty regularly. Chum with dog food or range cubes with some good punch bait

I fish the bulkheads and associated shoreline structures during the Spring and Fall on Conroe and they are always cooperative. During the summer and winter, I fish a bit deeper from 10 to 20 ft around tree tops. Chicken liver in the Spring and Fall, peeled shrimp, shad, and squid work well for me in the Winter. Keep bait near bottom from 6" to 1 ft off. If nothing hits in 10 minutes or so then move on to another spot. Treble hooks for liver are best.

I keep the freezer stacked well doing this.
