I have rods ready, and figure on cast netting for some bait or catching some fish for cut bait. I believe lady fish are good bait, please correct me if in wrong
Thanks

Dead shrimp or fish bites to catch whiting, pompano, croakers and ladyfish. You can use either of those as cutbait or whole for bigger fish. Keep a rod handy with a lure(spoon)in case you happen to spot bait getting busted on the top or birds working. Heard the anchovies are starting to run and the predator fish are following.

I am not sure how far the Malaquite Park goes, but you can continue driving south on the paved road until you hit the beach. You can then drive on the beach until you find a good spot to set camp. I prefer the beach because I can set up next to my truck and don't have to haul stuff around.

They were calling for 2 foot higher than normal tides today, which means water on the beach to the dunes in places.

it was quite flat on the falling tide last tuesday morning, just up from the park. had a great morning, with big trout at dawn, folowed by pomps, chopper blues, & lots of big whiting to fill the boxes through noon, then went home pomps & whiting on fishbites, trout on topwater, & all the skippies & jackfish you can handle on the rattletrap. water was super clear. kings, spanish & maybe tarpon busting bait past the 2nd bar. great day.
more to come with the approaching cold fronts good luck & post up!

Great report, by up, which way would that be? Towards the exit, or the other way?
Unfortunately I wasn't able to get much fishing in last weekend. But the boys did a great job picking up litter and passing out trash bags to folks.
The birds were working hard for over an hour to the left of the park

Great report, by up, which way would that be? Towards the exit, or the other way? we actually enter at the access rd about a mile n. of the park gate. runs out to a place called "the sticks",(you'll know when you see it) then run north up the beach about a 1/4 mile or so. fun spot.
