Hey guys, I'm going to Houston for the weekend, Clear Lake area, and was wondering where are some good spots to fish? Small ponds or lakes close to clear lake.

Will you be taking your kayak? I know a few places to go if you are taking your yak.

There aren't many places to bass fish around here without a yak. If you don't mind wade fishing, you could hit the Seabrook/Kemah area. There are some good areas by the Kemah Bridge to fish. I have caught some really good fish in that area and it's close to the Clear Lake area. There is a park in Pasadena on the corner of Burke and Crenshaw street that has a good size pond. It used to be a landfill/dump about 35-40 years ago. Once it was full, they filled it in and built a park there. They used to stock it but I'm not sure if they do anymore. You can fish all the way around. I have done ok but never great there but I have caught some decent fish. I know someone that caught a 7 1/2 over there but that was many years ago. I haven't fished it in years so I couldn't tell you if it's worth a darn. It's only about 10 minutes from the Clear Lake area.

Have a Blessed Day,
Mike

salt is definitely the way to go. But if you insist on freshwater, burke crenshaw park in pasadena has a decent sized pond with some good bass in it, not too far from clear lake. Independence park in friendswood has a small pond that has some fish as well.

On the Northeast side of the city is Lake Houston and it has some pretty good fishing. Launch at Eisenhower Park by dam or Lake Houston marine by 1960 bridge. They have been stocking Florida Strain bass in it for the past 3 or 4 yrs. and they are starting to show.

Also there is Shelton Reservoir. You can launch your bass boat but cannot run the big engine. Great wilderness area. Hope you like alligators. Shelton has produced many double digit bass in years pass, but haven't heard of many recently. Aquatic grass will be in full bloom as well as lily pads.
