Foiling is pretty easy once you get the hang of it...distressed Shad!

Scrubbed foil makes for an interesting finish. Lightly brushing away some of the foil leaves voids in the finish very similar to shad scale. Once you get enough foil removed to achieve the look you want clear the blank and use transparent paints for detail. Ghosting over the scrubbed foil makes some very nice patterns, too.

Here is a holographic blank that has been "scrubbed":

The pictures don't show the holographic tape left on the blank very well, but its there. Hard scrub less foil..light scrub more foil. Not sure what to paint, but it will be an interesting experiment nonetheless. By the way....you can do something similar by using black paint and scrubbing the paint off but leaving the color in the textured pattern, then clear then paint...looks pretty cool. Here's one before the clear and paint.

another neat trick is to apply all your colors on a holographic bait and then take a q-tip with denatured alcohol on it and streak the paint. the swab will remove the paint but not hurt the holo covering. you can make any designs you want to let some of the holo show through. here are a few examples of the effect you can get.

Do they make those holographic blanks in 3/4 oz. Traps?
- We use the bleeding/chrome with blue back but it doesn't begin to catch fish until about half of the chrome on the sides and belly is worn off.
- It kinda looks like a puked up shad with holographic's on top and nothing but bone on the sides with a few graphics mixed in representing a few scales left here and there.
- The throat to about half way back is orange.
- Chart. Prism eyes are the best.
