I am trying to remove the factory eyes from 6 8XD crank baits that I have been asked to repaint, and Strike King did not intend on those eyes coming out! I broke a scalpel and almost took one of my eyes out in the process. So far I have removed 1/2 of 1 eye. I am eagerly waiting y'all's replies.

I remove quite a number of eyes from spinner baits; but I am sure they are not quite as difficult. You will find that they are stuck good on one bait and pop right out on the next bait.

I use a eye dropper and isotone 100%. Do one side at a time. Couple of drops in the eye socket and let it sit for a couple of minutes, then do the other side. I have a flat edge pick which is much stronger than a blade. You will cut yourself with a blade. Work around the edge of the eye in several places. If it is still not coming out. I use the ball head dremel bit and grind it out partially. The heating up of the eye and glue will make it release to be prized out with the pick.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

A few factory lures that have been stripped of paint and the eyes removed.

They're ready to be restored to new condition. Works on just about any plastic factory lure. Got a lure style that doesn't come in the color pattern you want? I can help.
