Thinking about installing a Tire Pressure Monitoring System on my boat trailer. What's the pro's and con's of having a system and which system is best. There's a lot of different manufacturer's (systems) out there and cost on one to the other is drastic. Does anyone have any suggestions on which to purchase and install?

I love it on my truck but all my trailers are dual axle so I can roll on three if I need to.

One nail and a tire going down could easily save you $160. That is probably what I would spend on a system. The price of one tire.

Too often they read off. It's a [censored] shoot. I would rather not have it. I get really tired of seeing that my right rear tire is low every day, and the pressure is the same as the other three tires. And the Dodge that the city issued me read "low tire" every time the temperature got in the low sixties. Really annoying.

The sensors have to be changed every few years. The batteries are not replaceable. I replaced mine two years ago and back to normal on the Superduty.

Honestly, I'm not fond of them on my vehicles. We have them on two vehicles and they are too sensitive(like me). My wife's car has larger factory wheels/lower profile tires and the dang things will show "low" this evening with the reported cooler temperatures we are suppose to get. Drop the temps 10-20 degrees and you can bet these things will show "low" and ours show them on the big display on the dash blocking everything else. I want to know when I have a LOW tire not one that dropped 3lbs due to cooler temps. I check my trailer tires regularly and keep FULL pressure in them. I would not waste the money.

Add a little air to the tires to end that. Been there.

The big expensive tires I run will run flat and you can't tell until they destruct. I wanna know before that happens. It costs me almost five hundred bucks to put a new tire on my Superduty. The system has saved two tires so far. I'll keep relying on it.

wouldn't think the cost would be beneficial.

I run the wireless TPMS on my triple axle toy hauler. I like them but have found they lose connection quite a bit on the large trailers. I have the repeater also and I'll still have sensors come in and out while towing. I wouldn't think that would be an issue on a boat trailer though.

As you know a tire can do a lot of damage to a trailer, especially the RV's. I just went to Tennessee and back and saw another guy towing a big 5th wheel with a flat. He had no idea until I got next to him and motioned for him to pull over. At least with a TPMS you know if you get a blowout, low pressure, or high temperature.

I have no use for them. I check my trailer tires before I tow it. On the truck I can feel a low tire. I have not even has a flat in 25 years.

I'll never own another vehicle without them. Saved me at least 3 blowouts by warning me before the tires completely failed.

All my vehicles (3) have them, and they get used much much more than towing my boat and trailer, and they have saved my wife from a serious problem more that once, she can find a nail within a mile. My trailer gets special attention, I check the tires every weekend I use the boat, not only the pressure but a complete visual all the way around..
So far so good... fish

I can see my trailer tires in the review mirrors and often check them with the pressure gauge I keep handy.

I could see having a monitor if you can't see them.
