I took these pics this morning, I counted three. They were eating a big drum, first I've seen. NE side of 377 at Buck Creek ramp.

I believe those are ferrets. They are always on the dam or the rip rap. I had one get in the boat one morning at the ramp. Buck creek area

Nope....definitely the North American River Otter. Been around a ton of those in a job in college. Be careful not to get too close. They can be VERY nasty critters despite looking so cute.

I still recall fishing the megabass on Fork years ago with a good friend...obviously trying to target good fat unders and out of no where an otter pops up 20 feet from us, jumps on a stump and proceeds to eat one of the fattest 15"ish fish I've ever seen.

Here's a great resource. https://tpwd.texas.gov/publications/pwdpubs/media/pwd_bk_k0700_0517.pdf Look at pages 10 and 11 and you will see the minks and otters.

Lewisville has river otters. One of my neighbors works at the wildlife place below the dam.

Yep, north American river otter. They are native to the Eastern half of the state. We probably have them in most of the lakes around here.

I've seen minks on the rip rap on Lake Ray Hubbard. They're much smaller and have a more slender build.

I disagree that they are otters. I fish Buck Creek all the time. They are minks I see them a lot there. The lake I have fished for 30+ years in Missouri has both otters and minks. Minks only get about foot long where as Otter will get close to 3' long.

Otter

Mink

These are not minks! Adult minks grow to 18 inches, I'd guess these were around three feet long. The drum may have been around five pounds.

Definately otters; odd how they all the sightings I have heard of were groups of 3.

Damn things eat 7 to 20 lbs of food/day.....each, mostly fish
