My vote is mink as well. I've seen them on Arlington, Grapevine and Joe Pool. I've seen a couple of otters around over the years but way more minks.

I have seen otters on Hubbard and on Fork.Ferrets on Hubbard also. Not sure about their range but I think a lot of folks mistake ferrets for mink.Otters are much larger than either.

neighbor shot 2 of the 3 otters that cleaned out his catfish pond, they were so oily buzzards wouldn't touch them for a week.

Not if you have a permit to harvest furbearers in Texas. I guess you killed an otter(s) without the permit and got cited for it?

Mink? Nutria? Hybrid? roflmao Some of you must not get out much. Those are, without question, Otters.

Yes, they are obviously otters.

You guys crack me up. Some of you would probably try to tell me that my dog is a goat or a bear.

That's what I noticed, the two adult otters were eating like they hadn't eaten in days. It was like a pack of lions, very violent eating habits. They would just bite the drum anywhere and rip chunks of meat off, I'd guess the drum was around five pounds, and it was dwindled down to bone in no time. I watched them from about ten feet away for five minutes.

I've never seen a Nutria out of the water. There is a pond close by my house that has a big den on it and a couple that swim around at dusk. They make a huge splash to try and scare me. I once was fishing at night and looked down into the water with my head lamp on my head....saw the little face and glowing eyes looking up at me through the green water. That scared the [censored] out of me. Haha.

If they make big splashes to try to scare you, you are actually describing beavers, not nutria. Beavers will slap their tail on the water when they are feeling territorial/defensive. It sounds like someone throwing a big rock in the water. Nutria don't do this.
