Caught quite a few at lewisville the other day between 8:30-1:30. Was HOT and no wind, but caught around 20 flipping brush and shakey heads on points around I-35. Caught a mean sunburn too!

I would stay away from Lake Whitney. It has a big tournament being held both days this weekend.

This last month I've fished Ray Roberts,Granbury, Bridgeport and Amon Carter. All of them except Ray Roberts are really doing great right now. Tons of shad, schooling bass and they are all shallow. I would say you can probably have a good day on just about any lake you go to right now. We just went thru a 5 year drought. All the lakes are full, they all had great spawns, the shad have had 3 to 4 spawns with each of the full moons this summer and they have so much cover to hide in, fishing is going to be good for a few years.

Ray Roberts is Ray Roberts, it can be tough at times, you can still catch them out deep, but Spinnerbaits in the thousands of flooded willows is your best bet for a lunker.
Granbury has some decent sized fish mixed in with lots of 14" bass all up shallow in the Salt Cedars.
Bridgeport has lots of small fish, and even some schooling spotted bass which are very fat right now and are only getting
bigger with the fall coming on and all are up shallow, I did catch a few in 15FOW under docks.
Amon Carter has lots of schools of small bass blowing up on shad all over the place new side and old side. There are billions of shad.

With the days getting shorter and shorter the fish know its time to feed up, at the last part of August the water temps had dropped down to 83 degrees on some of the lakes, we had some huge rains and lots of cloudy days late in August, I thought that was the ticket for the shad to start moving to the backs of the creeks, but it's back up to 89 degrees, most of the shad are still shallow all over the lakes - and that's what the bass are feeding up on right now. If your chunking a spinnerbait and the baitfish are jumping out of the water trying to get out of the way you are in the right place. Now look for a stump, bush or anything to throw your lure to as they are hiding in cover up shallow looking for a slow moving bait to snack on.

I've always wanted to fish Aquilla, but have never been there and it's full right now, so If I were you I'd hit it cause it's full and there's tons of cover and I bet the fish are doing the same thing there.

Aquilla HATES me... a lot... I want to like it, but it HATES me... been 3 times... no fish, 1 burned out wheel hub and a storm that forced us off the water after 15 mins of fishing.

Granbury sounds like it may be a good one, i havn't been in a while. May have a half day friday as well, might check alvarado

Haven't fished Alvarado in a while (month or so) but it wasn't all that great I was hitting it everyday after work for a while with not very good results . Might try somewhere else maybe lake pat or Nolan river park that runs into lake pat if you wanted to stay in that little area . There definitely plenty of gar in the creek if you wanted to bow fish or just fish for something that put up a mean fight ! Best of luck and if you do go out to Alvarado pm me to let me know how it turned out
