Up for sale is my 95 mariner mag 200 EFI. Compression is 125 across the board. Recent impeller and lower gear oil service. Freshwater use only. Runs great. Still on the boat. For serious buyer will entertain test drive. Only reason selling is I found a 225. Asking $2900. Can text pics. Pm or text/call 512-864-4765

personally if you have owned the motor for while and have had good luck with it I dont see what your accomplishing by switching to a 225. You could probably switch reeds and get you prop worked and run just as good.

Going from a 2.5 to a 3 liter..that 3 liter has a lot more grunt down low, and should carry a bigger prop on the top end. Worth about 3-5 mph on most boats.

What he said...

Major diff on some hulls between 2.5 and 3.0 liter. On my hull 3.0 is worth close to 6 mph loaded.

BTW..reeds arent worth much if any top end on a 2.5.

okay i dont know much about mercury motors, my point was more to the fact is 3-5 mph worth taking a chance on a different motor. chasing hp can get really expensive.

3 to 5 isn't worth the money and time for me. But to each his own

Guess I'm lost here. I posted this motor to sell it. Not looking for opinions on whether I made a good or bad choice. Seems like that would have been in another forum topic. Either way...thanks for bumping my post to the top.
