was wondering if anyone could share some info on the best way to catch the big bass at CSP. Only fished it twice, no luck. And now I have a kayak, so I can head towards the "brush pile". I was thinking of using a mann's jelly work on a Carolina rig... Maybe???
Suggestions? What's your biggest fish out of CSP and what did you catch it on??

caught one over 9lbs about 2 years ago on the dam and several 5-6lbs over the years.

My biggest fish from here is only 5lbs. Numbers are for sure there. It beats out Alvarado for small fish for sure. 100+ fish isn't hard to do out there due to all the small fish. It honestly gets annoying and while I don't go anymore.I've fished it a lot over the years just not the last two years. I just fish the dam and a few brush piles on/near the dam."you can easily find them side on side scan". I've never caught a single fish on the huge brush pile near the dam. Sandbass school up in the evenings on the north east end/side. I catch bass Carolina rigging,drop shotting,crankbait,Texas rig,and A rig. That's what I've had most success on.

I have not been out there in forever, would expect the water to be pretty muddy right now, but have no idea.

Well, friends of mine fish there and it is a really lovely lake, trails running around a lot of its perimeter. Nice sort of family feel to the place. And, I think it generally sits low surrounded by trees so not a bad lake to fish when the wind is up.

DL fished out there often and he says he has marked several brush piles that are productive. I am sure it has some large bass but, for the most part, I think they are rather modest. Others fish for other species and I think they have crappie and other pan fish, too. Not sure, but maybe some catfish.

I'd find those brush piles if you have electronics, or ask other fishermen. And, then fish all the standard default locations on a lake: in the rip rap of the dam, standing timber, etc.

What to throw? It looks like a finesse lake to me so I'd try T-Rigs, split shot, drop shot, weightless worm. Like that.

Don't over think it Dan. Start out shallow with a spinner bait, the shad are so abundant right now, if you throw it - they will come! And fish the windy side, they will stack up on the windy bank. Take a cast net and catch some shad and keep a few lines baited out at night for catfish.
