I looked up the company on the truck. They are into oil and gas-energy and environmental cleanup.

Drilling rig wouldn't require vast amounts of water necessarily. My guess is a frac job. The oil company obviously secured a deal with the city (or whoever owns the water) to purchase the water. And yes, they are a water transfer company that services the oil industry.

I would guess those guys are having very little impact on the water level dropping. have you seen how green the grass is in Arlington? City of Arlington uses that water up quickly but fortunately Arlington is fed by Cedar Creek and Richland Chambers although I've seen in the past they let it drop to 11+ feet low without bringing it back up again.

Lake Arlington has such a small watershed, so in hot weather it loses water quickly, with not much inflow to replace it. not sure about your comment that it is fed by cedar creek and richland chambers; these lakes have nothing to do with Arlington. it is fed by village creek, so rain must come in a very small area to raise the level of the lake.
the water coming out of the power plant is hot (always) because they use it to cool the turbines.

Yeah I know all about the 6 reservoirs tied together the power plant I've been fishing this lake 30 years my question is still the same why are they taking out the water? These pumps can empty an Olympic size pool in a few hours

These pumps can empty an Olympic size pool in a few hours Looks like they are using the water for drilling purposes. City probably sold them so many feet of the lake, it's progress, hope and change...

Did you call anybody to really find out, instead of asking on a fishing forum?
