I have a HDS Gen 3 with Point 1. Sometimes while fishing, the map changes poles. When facing south, the map shows North. Very frustrating. Anyone else had this problem, and how to resolve?
I thought the Point 1 was supposed to be the best at positioning, etc.
Thanks.

Sounds like you have it set to North, rather than the screen rotating to the direction you're facing.

Yep, select "course up" instead of North up. Funny though, in my truck I prefer heading up, but on lake that confuses me. I'd rather have North up on the boat.

Use "heading up" and "look ahead" if not navigating waypoints.
If navigating waypoints on a route, use "course up and "look ahead."
You can access your manual while on the water if you have the latest software loaded. The info you are looking for is on page 36 of the HDS3 manual.
By using look ahead, it gives you a better image of where you are going and makes certain your boat icon is always on the LCD.
You can also access the Lowrance Quick Tips on Youtube for more info and advise for getting the most out of your Lowrance electronics.
