I posted this thread yesterday and for some reason I can't find it now....so here it goes again. I need advice on fishing muddy central Texas fresh water. I'm interested to see how folks approach leaders, flies and presentations.

If it is too muddy I usually go home.

i depends on what you are targeting.

But, I would think it would be similar to bass lure selection. Blacks and blues and put it right in front of their face.

I never have much luck in muddy water so I am interested to hear other's opinions.

I've spent my whole life in muddy water. I mainly use black or olive wooly buggers and slow strip. I'm really interested in how others approach this though. I tackled it like a bass fisherman. Although I normally use an ultra light with roosters, red/white jigs or small in line spinners. To me fly fishing always means pretty water but im trying to make the most of the situation I'm in.

The more water your bait is pushing the easier it is for the fish to find by using their lateral line they can use that to locate your bait in the muddiest of conditions if they are feeding they will eat. For those of you that have fish for Sandbass on the Sabine it is the color of chocolate milk year-round yet they find tiny Clowser's with ease. Yes you do want to stick with dark colors for the most part but face with confidence I think will do you the best good.

Do y'all think a small dark crack pattern would work?

Top water poppers and pistol petes are usually what I try first if I'm fishing for bluegill in muddy water.
