Can't seem to locate any larger shad. All I seem to find are 2 in. Threadfin. Any suggestions? I am in a 14FT aluminum v-bottom throwing a 8 foot 3/8 mesh cast net. 1 lb per foot weight. I find schools in main lake water 15 fow no success with net. I have found (2 in.) all I want around bubblers in Benbrook and boat ramps in morning.

8' radius or 8' diameter?
Biggest you are allowed in Texas is 7' radius.
Can't help you out as far as where to find shad but I don't want you to get in trouble.

its that time of year up my way as well millions of 2 inch shad we been getting the big ones right up on a sandy bank ..... try real shallow by sand or concrete or weeds watch that net if its an 8ft radius could get ya in trouble in Texas
If it ain't broke don't fix it...but go ahead and work on it anyway.....

Under the lights at the marina will produce monster gizzard shad in most lakes round here...make sure the slip or area you throw in is shallow and doesn't have hang ups..use your old torn up net first..got to get up real early to catch or go the night before

Try backing off the ramp to a little deeper water. Protected side of any floating docks around in 20 ft or less water and lighted boat slips. I prefer the sail boat slips because the don't have any lifts or cover. Throw an hour before daybreak.

Most of the lakes are full of tiny shad right now. I always here match the hatch but why would a fish bite the two inch shad on your hook?

It's 7 ft 14 dia. My mistake. And I have gotten some of those little kitties. A real pain in the net. I was trying to stay away from boat slips due to brush tossed there. thanks for the input.

Decided to go out yesterday and scout for some shad. First stop was bridge pilings 15 FOW saw some on graph but no luck in net. Ordered new Bait Buster net, get it in a week. So I moved on to shallower water 8/10 FOW around some Docks and finally got all the bigguns I can use. One of them was about 1 lb I bet that head will have a big Blue name on it. Thanks for the help.

1 lb shad, that head will be a blue cat pizza there. Mama call Wal Mart see if they got any picture frames, there going to be a new 8x10 picture on the wall. Good luck and glad you found those big shad.
